It
is often at the most extreme moments in life when things
become most clear. This week, we learned Rabbi
Phyllis Sommer's son is fighting
leukemia. Rabbi Sommer is a faculty member at
OSRUI and works tirelessly to build a supportive Jewish
community each summer at camp.
It is unfortunate
tragedy that reminds us the Jewish community
transcends place and time and sustains and
supports us all year, every year. We pray for Rabbi
Sommer's son's well being and we pray each summer at
every camp that the community we build continues to
sustain body and soul.

much she loved camp. During her recent visit, she found
Judaism everywhere — from
the sound of 400 voices singing HaMotzi to
noisy cabin cheers, from the zip line, up the ropes
course and through the ga-ga pits. Read more »

summarized: Jewish life, like Kutz, is about
developing "depth, purpose &

Greene Family Camp
Rabbi David Komerofsky,
Executive Director of Hillel at the University of Texas,
has traded campus life for camp life for the past 13
summers! This year, while preparing for the campers to
arrive, he developed some creative new ways to teach
Jewish curriculum to kids who would sometimes,
admittedly, "rather be
swimming." Read
